Is Bluprint Worth The Subscription Cost?

Last Updated on June 6, 2020 by lydiaf1963

I’m very sorry to tell you that Bluprint will be closing its doors in the next few months. They plan to stop accepting new subscribers and orders for individual classes, patterns and supplies on May 31, 2020.

I’ve been on the Craftsy platform for a LONG time! I saw the value and became an affiliate when I started Life Beyond the Kitchen. I stayed with them after they changed to the subscription based Craftsy Unlimited and later, Bluprint. Right now I have about 50 “own forever” classes. There has been no word on whether Bluprint will maintain a platform for access or if we will have to download the classes to our devices. Personally, I plan to buy another external hard drive to store them.

There are a couple class reviews on Life Beyond the Kitchen. I will leave them up with a disclaimer for now. Hopefully the teachers will retain rights to their work and will be able to transfer to other platforms and I can continue to promote their content.

Craftsy and Craftsy Unlimited have transformed into Bluprint an online platform devoted to the creative things we do with our hands.

What is Bluprint?

Bluprint is a streaming service that offers classes and exclusive content to subscribers. For a set fee, you can watch an unlimited number of classes and exclusive online shows and content. Plus you can choose from over 1300 classes available to Own Forever!

I was a Craftsy customer before I became a Craftsy Bluprint affiliate. I have purchased classes and patterns from their website and while some have been better than others, I’ve always felt I’ve gotten my money’s worth. That’s why I’m excited to tell you about Bluprint’s current offer.

Bluprint has online courses for all levels of participation. They also have platform exclusive shows available for streaming. In addition, Bluprint’s shop carries materials, supplies and patterns to keep your hands occupied!

How much does Bluprint cost?

As of January 2019 a Bluprint subscription can be purchased on a monthly or an annual basis. To celebrate the full transition from Craftsy to Bluprint the annual cost is $79.99 or $7.99 per month.

Don’t forget, you still have the option to purchase individual classes if you’d rather go that route (they start around $12), but keep reading to find out why you’ll want to subscribe!

They’ve really sweetened the pot! When you subscribe you’ll be given vouchers to purchase 12 “Own Forever” classes. With the monthly plan you get a single class. This is still a great deal as I’ve NEVER seen a class offered for such a low cost. Find out more at this link and start planning your class purchases.

Still not enough? Until January 31, 2019 US residents can pay a little bit more for the annual subscription and choose one of ten kits to get you started! Check out the value of these kits. I think you’ll agree you’re getting a good deal. Plus US residents also get free shipping when you purchase materials and supplies from the Bluprint Shop.

There are drawbacks, however. Currently when you buy a course you have lifetime access to it and you can download it to your device. This is convenient for people with spotty or slow internet coverage. With the subscription plan you can watch whenever you like…as long as you have internet service. If you cancel your subscription you’ll lose access to both the videos and the class materials unless you purchase the particular class.

Things to consider when making your decision

  • How many classes would I purchase in a year’s time versus how many would I watch if they were already paid for?
  • How is my internet service? Is it fast enough to stream video? Does my plan cover the volume of data I’ll require?
  • What skills would I like to improve and does Bluprint offer classes that would help me?

HOWEVER…given the value of the current offer, I’d subscribe even if I had no internet coverage in my home. I can always download my classes while visiting someone with a good connection and watch the classes at home.
