Creatively Crafty Link Party #266

Sara of BirdzOfAFeather.ca has a gorgeous Tunisian crochet pattern to make a pillow cover. You’ll love this project which features a variety of Tunisian crochet stitches. Sara has a few videos in her post discussing the pillow cover as well as a tutorial to make the beautiful smock stitch.
Don’t be intimidated by Tunisian crochet. Once you learn the stitches, it’s fun. Tunisian crochet makes a dense fabric that’s rich in texture. Let me encourage you to follow the link in Sara’s post to visit Ribblr, where the patterns are written with current technology in mind. With a tablet you can follow the pattern step by step while ticking off each as you go. Video help is just a touch away. I’m looking forward to using Ribblr. It seems to be an excellent platform.
Perhaps most important, Sara is donating the proceeds from her pattern sales to benefit Alzheimer charities.
This is the third week of my Lenten Social Media fast. I don’t think I’m missing much. I get emails from trusted news sources. I’m finding it’s easier to glean what I need via email rather than slogging through social media.
We’re taking advantage of Netflix’s DVD program to watch Outlander Season 5 before it’s available on the platform. And I caught Nomadland on Hulu. Highly recommend. Frances McDormand is a favorite actress in our household. She plays a woman who decides to live an itinerant lifestyle after losing her husband. The way she lives is reminiscent of the cowboys who traveled from job to job in the Old West. The story is told in a minimalist, documentary style, with incredible photography.
The kindness and community demonstrated by the “nomads” stands in stark contrast to social media culture. That’s not to say there aren’t supportive and uplifting spaces online. However, I’m no longer convinced the dominant social platforms are capable of being those spaces.
Welcome to the Creatively Crafty Link Party hosted by the Creative Crafters Blogging Group! You’ve worked hard on your project, and it looks great! Share it with us and get the kudos you deserve! Any and all creative endeavors are welcome…crafts, original writing, recipes, DIY tutorials, you name it!
On to the party!
Do you have anything creative you’d like to share? We’d love to see it. Browsing through the projects is a pleasant part of my week! Thank You for sharing your creativity with us. Each week we will sponsor a new link party, and pin our favorites. With so many bloggers participating that means more exposure for YOU! Head over to the other co-hosts blogs to see all their fun stuff. Check them out here:
Thanks for sharing your project with us! Keep an eye out as we’ll be sharing posts on various social media channels during the week. We’re growing and that’s a good thing, although as the party gets larger it will be more difficult for me to visit and comment on every link. So I’m counting on you guys to help out. Please try to find time to visit a link or two yourself and congratulate your fellow crafters on a job well done!
There are just a few simple rules:
-Link to a specific post, not your home page.
-Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
-Giveaways, other link parties, Etsy shops or business links are not accepted.
-Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.
Please do not pin from these thumbnails. If there’s a post you want to pin please click on the link title to visit the source and pin from their blog. Not a blogger? No problem! Anyone with an Instagram or Facebook account can link to a photo of your completed masterpiece or work in progress. Could you do us a favor and share the party on Twitter before linking up?
Thanks so much Lydia!
Thank you for featuring my pillow to help raise money for Alzheimer’s Lydia! It’s so appreciated.
I’m happy to! My husband and I took care of his mother with Alzheimer’s until she died so it’s a cause I can identify with.
So sorry you lost your MIL to Alzheimer’s Lydia. Unfortunately it’s something too many can identify with. Hopefully one day there will be a cure.
