Creatively Crafty Link Party #268

I think I like Dollar Store crafts almost as much as Upcycled stuff. The stores in my area (Dollar General, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree) have really stepped it up with crafting materials this Spring. I’m always amazed at what people come up with. Take Donna’s Easter wreath, for example.
Everything on the wreath came from the Dollar Tree. The end result is super cute and inexpensive!
Donna blogs with her two daughters and Two Chicks and A Mom. Drop by to check out their fun projects. Use the links on the side bar to find your way around.
This weekend brings the celebration of Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week on the Christian calendar.
Semana Santa marks the beginning of the high season in Spain, much like Memorial Day Weekend does in the US. Sadly, for the second year in a row, the pandemic has put a damper on activities. You can understand why in the photo above…
Normally in Spain there would be solemn processions in the streets every day. And after the processions, lots of tapas and wine. I always enjoyed how we’d randomly run into a paso while wandering around.
A paso is religious procession where a figure is carried by members of a religious organization, called a cofradia. In addition to the men and women carrying the float, there are boys and girls wearing their best outfits and women decked out in high combs covered with lace mantillas. Sometimes there’s a band with drums and brass.
The paso that passes by our apartment usually has people carrying candles and swinging incense as well.
This year the Spanish government has decided to keep people in their own provinces and limit the times people can be on the street. It’s an improvement over last year when we were stuck inside.
I’m missing it this year because we’re in the US.
However…this year is a meaningful one for my family. My sister was ordained to the diaconate in our denomination and this is her first Easter as a member of the clergy. We came back to the States to witness her ordination and renew our passports.
Now it’s time to think about heading back to Spain.

On to the party!
Do you have anything creative you’d like to share? We’d love to see it. Browsing through the projects is a pleasant part of my week! Thank You for sharing your creativity with us. Each week we will sponsor a new link party, and pin our favorites. With so many bloggers participating that means more exposure for YOU! Head over to the other co-hosts blogs to see all their fun stuff. Check them out here:
Thanks for sharing your project with us! Keep an eye out as we’ll be sharing posts on various social media channels during the week. We’re growing and that’s a good thing, although as the party gets larger it will be more difficult for me to visit and comment on every link. So I’m counting on you guys to help out. Please try to find time to visit a link or two yourself and congratulate your fellow crafters on a job well done!
There are just a few simple rules:
-Link to a specific post, not your home page.
-Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
-Giveaways, other link parties, Etsy shops or business links are not accepted.
-Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.
Please do not pin from these thumbnails. If there’s a post you want to pin please click on the link title to visit the source and pin from their blog. Not a blogger? No problem! Anyone with an Instagram or Facebook account can link to a photo of your completed masterpiece or work in progress. Could you do us a favor and share the party on Twitter before linking up?
Semana Santa sounds interesting. I am glad that it is being marked in some way. Saturday evening marks the start of Passover and we will celebrate the Passover Seder together, also in more limited way than normal.
I understand Israel is chugging along with its vaccine program. I hope you are able to enjoy Passover with your loved ones.
Thank you Lydia, and thank you for sharing some of Spain’s Easter traditions, so interesting, and congratulations to your sister.
It was a long road for her, but she’s found her vocation in life. Not everyone does.
