Creatively Crafty Link Party #218
How is everyone? Rick and I are well and still enjoying each other’s company.
Amber at Craftaboo has shared a set of crochet projects to keep your hands busy and maybe even get ahead of Christmas gift giving.
Amber is a crochet designer. You’ll find patterns and tutorials on her website, so drop by and have a good browse!
Before we get the the PAR-TAY I want to share a mask pattern I found on the web. It’s difficult to get a hold of craft stuff in Spain in normal times. It usually involves going to several shops and finally giving up and ordering from the internet.
Right now all my usual sources for things like bias tape and elastic are closed and to order via internet involves a two week or longer turn around.
I have fabric, though. So I looked for a mask pattern with a casing instead of sewn on straps. That way anything you have on hand would work as a tie. Cord, shoelaces, crochet chain, etc. I started with cord but in the end I went ahead and made my own bias tape (I used 1 1/2 inch wide strips instead of the normal 2 inch to make ties roughly 3/8″ wide)
The mask pattern comes from the University of Utah’s website. It fits well around the nose and under the chin. The directions are easy to follow. I made two as I’ve been going out two times a week. This gives me time to wash and dry one mask while I wear the other. Rick refuses to wear anything but the gloves provided by the shops.
If you prefer the rectangular masks, adding an extra inch and a half will allow you to make a 1/2 inch casing on either side. The rest of the mask’s construction would remain the same.
This type of mask is for going to the store and strictly following social distancing guidelines. Please remember to wash it every time you wear it.
It’s also not a bad idea to change out of the clothes you wore to the store and wash them, too.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying an adult beverage and counting the days until I can get my haircut. Maybe my next project will be a turban!
Welcome to the Creatively Crafty Link Party hosted by the Creative Crafters Blogging Group! You’ve worked hard on your project, and it looks great! Share it with us and get the kudos you deserve! Any and all creative endeavors are welcome…crafts, original writing, recipes, DIY tutorials, you name it!
On to the party!
Do you have anything creative you’d like to share? We’d love to see it. Browsing through the projects is a pleasant part of my week! Thank You for sharing your creativity with us. Each week we will sponsor a new link party, and pin our favorites. With so many bloggers participating that means more exposure for YOU! Head over to the other co-hosts blogs to see all their fun stuff. Check them out here:
Thanks for sharing your project with us! Keep an eye out as we’ll be sharing posts on various social media channels during the week. We’re growing and that’s a good thing, although as the party gets larger it will be more difficult for me to visit and comment on every link. So I’m counting on you guys to help out. Please try to find time to visit a link or two yourself and congratulate your fellow crafters on a job well done!
There are just a few simple rules:
-Link to a specific post, not your home page.
-Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
-Giveaways, other link parties, Etsy shops or business links are not accepted.
-Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.
Please do not pin from these thumbnails. If there’s a post you want to pin please click on the link title to visit the source and pin from their blog. Not a blogger? No problem! Anyone with an Instagram or Facebook account can link to a photo of your completed masterpiece or work in progress. Could you do us a favor and share the party on Twitter before linking up?
Thanks for hosting.
Thank you Lydia, and for the mask tutorial. Happy Easter!
Thank you so much for hosting, and for the feature! I hope you are staying safe and keeping sane during this quarantine.
