ee cummings Printable {#ccbg}

This month’s craft challenge for the Creative Craft Bloggers Group was to make a printable. I decided to stick with something simple and since Valentine’s Day will soon be here, I wanted it to be romantic, too. I was inspired by a quote which expresses very well what it means to be part of a couple which truly loves and supports one another. Print this sweet ee cummings printable out and place it on your nightstand or desk or anywhere you want to be reminded of how a couple is more than just two people together.

Did you take poetry in high school? If so you may recall reading ee cummings, the American poet known for not using capital letters and for using punctuation in unusual ways. Sometimes his poems looked odd on the page, but would make sense when read aloud when the large spaces would translate into pauses or the lack of spaces would cue the reader to read faster. Other times he was able to convey an emotion like this which reads to me like a sigh of despair:

I was inspired to use his works after watching the movie In Her Shoes(affiliate link) with Cameron Diaz, Shirley MacLaine and Toni Collette. During a wedding scene one of his better known poems was read and after a little online searching was able to find something I liked to make the printable. This is the first one I’ve made and I wish I’d added a border to take the edges of the frame into account, but now I know for next time.

The picture frame is 10 x 15cm which is roughly 4 x 6 inches. I took the graphics file to the local print shop and they printed it and cut it to size.  Click on the image above and you’ll be taken to the larger, better quality file. Then save the image to your computer and print it whatever size you like.

  1. ee cummings has been a favorite of mine for many many years. And although his poetry may sound convoluted-if you read it often enough it starts to make sense. I do love the quote you made a printable out of–one of his more readily understandable wordings.

  3. It turned out beautifully. I didn’t remember this quote from high school poetry assignments, but now I’m feeling like I need to go back and revisit his work.
