Launch Yourself Out of the House

I received a Beets BLU Pager Tag in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are mine. Affiliate links within the post are indicated. If you follow them you’ll be taken to Amazon where I may make a small commission for any purchases you make.
For many years weekday mornings were a stressful time in my house. Trying to get two kids up, dressed, fed and out the door in order to get them to their grandmother’s house to catch the bus and then travel another half hour to get to work on time was often a struggle. Some days were better than others, but it was a big relief for me the day I realized I’d dropped my son off for the last time.
Thankfully, my mother-in-law lived in the same district as my children’s school and was willing to help us out, even after her son and I divorced. Besides Mommom, the second biggest help during those years was our launch pad where (in theory at least) we placed our purses, backpacks, shoes, sports gear and any other item we might need to carry out of the house. It seemed like there was always something.
It started out simply, with just a hook for my car keys and pocket book. Once I was able to get control over my personal belongings, it was easier to help my children keep their stuff organized. We eventually added a calendar and a place for shoes to the mix. Yes, shoes were often an issue for us, too.
Here’s some advice for creating your own launch pad:
- Place it as close as possible to the door you use most often
- Start small and expand as space and interest allows. You may want to make space for:
- purses, wallets, backpacks and keys
- sports equipment, musical instruments and school supplies
- shoes, hats, gloves and coats
- phones and chargers
- Give your system a month before you make any changes.
I don’t want to give you the impression that installing a few hooks and a magnetic calendar on the fridge solved our morning rush problems. There were times when we still had to look for something or someone would forget to make sure their backpack had been replaced after doing their homework. The real key was for me, Mom, to get my act together so I could help my children.
Suppose, after setting up your launchpad you still have CERTAIN members of the family insist on bypassing the launch pad and losing his their keys on a regular basis. That’s where this cool little Beets BLU Pager Tag (affiliate link) comes in handy. It has already averted a lost key crisis.
This is a neat little gadget. It was easy to set up with a tracking feature as well as a proximity alarm. If you’ve ever set your keys down to pay for something and then walked away you’ll appreciate this feature. The paging feature helped us find the aforementioned lost keys in the cushions.
The Beets BLU Pager Tag (affiliate link) is pretty slim, so those who are constantly losing their wallets may want to order two pagers. You can track them both with the easy to install app. Keeping track of your phone is on you, although most people don’t have any trouble with that.
The ability to track multiple tags means you can have one for your keys, and slip another in your husband’s pocket, so you can track him through the big box store even when he ignores doesn’t hear your texts. Just sayin’.
My husband needs one of those! He is always leaving his keys somewhere other than where they are supposed to be.
Glad it’s not just us!
I like the term “launch pad” since this is where you are launching from. I have recently seen many using the term command center- but somehow launch pad is friendlier! Whatever you call it, it is a good thing to have. We hang keys by the door, but I have yet to find a good place for my purse in our new house.
I’ve seen some really elaborate command centers. I think they’d become very cluttered in our house so I kept it as simple as possible.
That is such a cool little gadget. I am always losing my keys so this would be perfect for me.
This sure sounds like a valuable little tool! I know a few people in my life that could definitely benefit from something like this! Thanks for sharing the review!
Yup. I need that. I have got our routine down to a science, but part of that science involves me searching for my keys. So frustrating!
Yes indeed! I remember looking all over for my keys one morning only to find I’d left them in the ignition! crazy!
I would love to attach these tags to all kinds of things! Keys, purse, the remote, my cat 😉
I need these! They are awesome!
Definitely need that for my Mom-she is forever forgetting where she put her keys!!
I need one of those! I’m constantly misplacing things and mornings are tough.
I need this for so many things in my life: several sets of keys, glasses, sunglasses, phone, etc.
Good thing the app can help you track many tags at once! 🙂
Launchpad, what a clever name. This centers are great and so important. I find a lot of people wish for a better space for their launch pad. This is a great invention. So many people “loose their keys!.” Thanks for information!
I’ve seen some really nice ones…that I would have cluttered up in no time. It’s a process! 🙂
Oh my gosh, I feel like the whole family could benefit from that! Someone is forever losing keys around here.
Isn’t it fun?
Always. Losing. My. Keys. It never ends!
A hook or a basket just inside the door made such a difference for me. The other thing I did was to put my keys on a leash and attach it to my purse (not practical if you drive, I know).
Those sound wonderful, but I’m afraid I’m the person that needs one for my phone too. I guess, my husband can help me keep track of my things. He is all ready the one that has to help me look for the lost items so this would just make it easier on him.
Yes, you’re only thinking of your husband after all! hahaha
