You Need USB Furniture in Your Life

Last Updated on August 9, 2017 by lydiaf1963

It’s late and you’ve just checked into your hotel and all you want to do is charge your phone and grab a shower before sliding between the sheets. You pull out your charger and look for an outlet. There aren’t any conveniently located. Then you notice the bedside lamp not only has an outlet but a USB port as well! Wonderful! Isn’t technology marvelous? Wouldn’t it be nice to have the same convenience in your own home? USB furniture for everyday people is a thing and it can be very stylish. Let’s take a look at some of the offerings.

USB furniture is available for every room in your home. The simplest forms range from stylish charging docks like these to wall outlets that allow you to plug in directly without a charger.

Maxxima Dual USB Charger Wall Outlet with 15 Amp Duplex Receptacle, 4 Pack  Unlike the charging stations, these have to be installed properly. It’s not difficult if you’re a handy person. Me? I avoid anything to do with electricity so I’d hire someone to do it.

There are lots of USB lamps to suit your decor. Some are perfect for reading in bed and others help you work. Of course plenty of desks are equipped with outlets and USB ports as well.

Many furniture manufacturers are adding USB ports to furnishings that would ideally use them; for example nightstands and desks. For me, the most useful pieces may be found in the living room. Think about how many hours you could spend cuddled up in your favorite recliner with an outlet and a USB port as well as a place to store your mobile device. No more extension cords and super long cables!

There’s even USB furniture for the kitchen. If you’re planning a remodel be sure to make room in your budget for these pop up outlets. They will power your appliances as well as your devices. My favorite is the outlet tower which rises from the countertop and stows away when not in use. They come with gaskets to prevent spills from reaching the electrical connections or leaking into your cabinets.

As with the outlets, these require installation by someone who knows what they’re doing. It would be worth it just for the experience of watching the outlets rise from the countertop!
